What are the signs of perimenopause?
Changing cycles, disrupted sleep, mood shifts, hot flashes, dryness and brain fog — often years before periods stop.
Candescent is on Ironwood Circle in South Bend and sees patients from Granger, about ten minutes up the road. Read the main answer.
Menopause is a single day: twelve months after your last period. Perimenopause is the transition leading up to it, and it takes ten to fifteen years. Most of what people find hardest happens during that transition rather than after it.
Typically cycles shift first and sleep goes next, followed by some mix of hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, brain fog, dryness, painful sex, low libido and weight that stops responding.
All of it is treatable, and being told it is normal for your age is not a treatment plan. Most patients are candidates for hormone therapy, including many who have been told they are not.
